If you are getting married anytime soon you have a bunch of details going through your head. Most likely the last thing on your to do list is hire your makeup artist. It should be one of your first steps right after you hire your photographer. You want to build a trust and partnership with your artist for your wedding day not just hire the first person who is available. You will have a lot of oppurtunities to use your artist. You can use them for showers, engagement pictures, Bachelorette parties and anything else you want.
First you will want to find someone who has a portfolio you like. They should have a lot of pictures for you to look at so you can tell their range as an artist. They should be doing this for a living not just a hobby. Being a licensed esthetician or cosmetologist is something to look for also because it means they have gone to school and are specially trained to do makeup.
Once you find an artist to contact, you should set up a meeting about six months before your wedding. This way you will be able to see if your personalities mesh, just because someone looks great on paper doesn’t mean you will like their personality.
Please make sure you do a trial run at least two months before your wedding. This ensures that you will look perfect on your wedding day. You will be able to see how the makeup wears throughout the day. A lot of brides don’t make time for this and it truly is the most essential step. This is when you get honest with your artist and tell them your likes and dislikes. This is when you really want your personalities to mesh.

Hey everyone so 2014 has been an amazing year for me. I have gotten to do so many awesome things this year in my business as well as my personal life. I’m so grateful for all my clients and professionals I get to work with. I decided with this blog I was going to write a recap of everything that happened and provide some pictures too.
I welcomed my son Landon in January he came 2 weeks and 1 day early. He is the most amazing little boy and we love him to pieces.
My daughter celebrated her first birthday she is the sweetest little thing and cracks me up on the daily.
My husband and I celebrated our 5th year wedding anniversary.
I got a chance to work with Callie Holcomb from Holcomb wedding and events doing makeup for a wedding she planned. She’s an amazing wedding planner.
I worked with Missy Millan doing makeup for a boudoir session, I got to do makeup for my best friend and sister in law.
My makeup was featured in Style Me Pretty and Wedding Lovely.
I got to do a maleficent inspired photo shoot with Rio Jean Photography.
My business has celebrated 3 years this year. I get to see my clients and do facials and waxing and lash extensions. Thank you for sticking around for two maternity leaves. I love you all.
I got an air brush machine for Christmas this year. More on that later!
I am a vendor on The Knot, Wedding Wire and Wedding Lovely.
My goals for next year is to continue to grow my esthetic side of my business and get more clients now that my kids are getting older. I want to continue to get published in more blogs and hopefully a magazine, that would be amazing. I can’t wait to add airbrushing to my menu and to do more weddings next year. I just am so blessed that the lord has given me a job that I love and a family that supports me.
I wish you all a very Merry Christmas. I’m so blessed to have you in my life. Enjoy your families and please be safe out there.
